Recognition Pattern

This option allows you to limit enzymes to those that recognize the given pattern or part of the given pattern (case does not matter). You can include ambiguous bases in the pattern, such as R for purines, but they only match compatible ambiguous bases in recognition patterns unless you allow ambiguous matches explicitly. For example, if ambiguous matches are not allowed, a pattern of yggccr will exclude enzymes that recognize tggcca, but not enzymes that recognize yggccr. If the cutting length is not specified, enzymes that recognize ggcc will also match the above pattern because ggcc is a part of it.

Usually it makes sense to specify the recognition pattern only if you want to use/list all or commercially available enzymes in the database.
